This Privacy Policy describes how Foresight ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our personal finance application and website at getforesight.app (collectively, the "Service"). By using Foresight, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account registration information (name, email address, password)
- Financial data you enter manually — income sources, budget items, account balances, debt information
- Transaction data you upload via CSV import
- Settings and preferences you configure within the app
- Feedback and communications you send to us
Information collected automatically:
- Log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps)
- Device information (operating system, screen resolution)
- Usage patterns within the app (which features you use, how often)
Foresight does not connect directly to your bank accounts. All financial data in the app is either entered manually by you or uploaded from CSV files you export from your bank.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the Service — including computing forecasts, generating AI insights, and displaying your financial data
- To improve and develop new features based on how the Service is used
- To communicate with you about your account, feature updates, and the beta program
- To respond to your support requests and feedback
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- To comply with legal obligations
3. AI Features and Your Data
Foresight uses Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic, to power features including AI Insights, the Monthly Report, Scenario Modeler explanations, and the AI Advisor. When you use these features, relevant financial data (amounts, categories, trends — not personally identifying details) is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response.
Anthropic processes this data subject to their own privacy policy and API data usage policies. We do not send your name, email, or account credentials to Anthropic. Data sent to Anthropic is used only to generate the requested AI response and is not used to train Anthropic's models under the current API terms.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database provider. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard TLS. Access to your data within the app is controlled by Row Level Security policies that ensure each user can only access their own data.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic (AI features), and form processing services used for the beta application
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority
- Business transfer: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you
- With your consent: For any other purpose with your explicit permission
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your account and all associated data — contact us and we will process your request within 30 days
- Export your data in a portable format upon request
- Opt out of non-essential communications at any time

7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer or where retention is necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
8. Children's Privacy
Foresight is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice in the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
